News: Panic in Jos as Residents Discover Three Corpses in Bukuru

Panic in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, as three dead bodies were found in the early hours of February 11, 2014, Tuesday, in an abandoned building burnt during the peak of Jos crisis.

According to an eyewitness, one of the victims was woman, allegedly a widow; while the two others were young men aged 25 and 28. All of them died of gunshot wounds.

As a result of the development, elementary schools within the area were shut down at about 8.30 a.m., Tuesday, for fear of attacks.

"Our action is to safeguard the lives of our pupils and also to give confidence to the parents; but as the situation improves, we shall advise parents to bring back their wards; but surely not today," an official of an undisclosed school in the area said.

Parents who took their children to school were seen taking back their wards.

Commercial activities within Bukuru town were also paralysed. Traders and shop owners refused to open for business.

According to Premium Times, Bukuru residents reported hearing sporadic gunshots throughout Monday night.

The attempts to get details from security agencies in the area proved abortive at the time this report.
