News update: Sports Ministry Thrown Into Crisis As Abdullahi Refuses To Handover To New Minister

The Ministry of Sports has been thrown into crisis as former Minister of Sports and Chairman National Sports Commission (NSC), Bolaji Abdullahi has refused to handover to his successor, Dr Tamuno Danagogo.

Abdullahi was let go by Presdent Jonathan last week and Danagogo was brought in to replace himbut sources from the NSC are saying that Abdullahi has decided not to show up for the traditional hand over to Danagogo, and the handover has been rescheduled twice since his sack.

Abdullahi was reportedly in London, when news of his sack came to him and had to cancel his trip to Poland to attend IAAF Indoor Championship. The handover was first put on Tuesday but when he did'nt show up it was moved to Wednessday and again he failed to come.

SA to the former minister, Julius Ogunro when contacted defended his boss's right to not attend saying:"I don't know what you people are talking about handover. Handover is not a compulsory thing.

It is not necessary that a former minister must perform handover ceremony. When we came in, nobody handed over to us. What the new minister needs is to get briefed from the DG about what his predecessor did. The DG and new minister have met with my boss and discussion is still ongoing between them," he said.
