Former governor of Nasarawa and now Senator representing Nasarawa West, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu, has said the All Progressive Congress, APC, is not perfect and should not be seen as saints' party.
The senator, who recently defected to the APC from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, made this disclosure while explaining his reasons for joining the opposition party.
Speaking to newsmen in his Keffi home over the weekend, the senator said the repeated revelations of corruption make it clear that the nation needs a change.
He said, "I am not saying that I joined the APC because it is a perfect outfit, but we will work hard to make sure things work for the betterment of our country."
A founding member of the PDP, Senator Adamu accused the PDP of promoting corruption.
"For over four months we were making complaints, I went to the house of the former chairman of the PDP, Bamanga Tukur, on several occasions and I even have access to the President but all our advice fell on deaf ears. We went as far as forming a concerned group in Nasarawa State but all efforts were futile."
"It was just a conspiracy to make things not work. Those that were my errand boys, who rolled on my back to get to the top, they believe have gotten to the promise land," he said, referring to the people who had orchestrated his struggles within the party.
