Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram militants on Tuesday evening stormed Konduga Local Government Area of troubled Borno state where they wrecked harvoc killing many residents including vigilantee youth popularly called civilian JTF and security personnel.
The gunmen according to sources also set ablaze many houses, shops and vehicles before displacing over 1000 residents after abducting some of them mostly women and youth.
Konduga is about 45 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital located on the off shores of the Sambisa forest which harbours a lot of terrorists' camps in the state.
The Council area had in the middle of last year witnessed deadly attacks when some terrorists ambushed residents including worshippers at a mosque killing over 50 of them, after setting the mosque ablaze as well as the touching of residential houses and shops.
Spokesman of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Colonel Mohammed Dole confirmed the incident to newsmen, but pleaded that the casualty figure is yet to be ascertained as they are still compiling details.
" Yes there was an attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Konduga Council Area yesterday evening, please give us time so that we will feed you back with details after we might have concluded our findings". Dole said.
