News: Boko Haram Strikes Again In Borno Village

Despite assurances of military strength and capacity in Borno state, Islamist militant group Boko Haram yesterday attacked Izge village again in the state.

A source in the village said that the sect returned to the village last night and killed some people who are mostly elderly and burnt many houses with impunity.
The source said there were no military personnel when the sect got into the town chanting war songs and shooting helpless villagers, while youths and some women fled through bush path in the night.
The source added that thousands of the villagers are presently taking refuge in Gulak local government area of Adamawa state.
There is no official reaction from the military regarding the latest Saturday night attack.
There has been cold war between Governor Kashim Shettima and Nigerian military over Shettima's claim that Boko Haram wields more sophisticated weapons than the Nigerian military, an assertion both military and Federal Government officials debunked last week.
